A Celebration Of Oxford Pioneering & Inspirational Women
2009 is the year in which the Oxford International Women’s Festival celebrates its twentieth year. It is therefore fitting that the Festival will celebrate the lives of the many of Oxford’s remarkable and diverse women who have contributed to the city’s social, economic and political life. Some of these are individuals or members of groups or organisations which have initiated or originated a course of action, or a new technique or type of activity. These women often break the boundaries of their prescribed role and may have had to endure criticism and ridicule as well as gaining the support from family and friends. Other women have inspired women through their actions and leadership, helped others through friendship and supported or created new enterprises.
