1st Annual OxFEST Symposium, “Can you have it all?”

The Linbury Room, Worcester College.

This full-day symposium, open to men AND women, will address the challenges that women face as they progress in their careers. Talks will focus on gender equality, work-life balance, policy making, women in entrepreneurship and academia, and modern leadership. Workshops will focus on ‘Assertiveness’, ‘Public Speaking’, and ‘Yoga at your Workplace’. Lunch, refreshments and drinks reception will be provided.

Aims:

  1. Educate the audience on current policies which aim to help bridge the gender gap
  2. Encourage women to progress in their careers through the stories of inspirational and prominent women in business and academia
  3. Prepare participants for the workforce by helping them develop valuable skills
  4. Raise the awareness that traditionally masculine roles in leadership are changing

This year for Oxford International Women’s Festival, a group of women have organised a walk by the river in the early evening to experince the freedom that is often denied to women because it seems dangerous. Meet at the Town hall at 6.00pm, walk up to Iffley Lock (about 40 minutes) and got to the Grovehouse at Iffley Turn to eat and talk togther. Children welcome, wheelchair accesible for most of the walk (please call to discuss arrangements).
